Pant Alterations

A few weeks ago I was going through my closet and decided to go through all my jeans and some of my pants and try them all on.  The reason was that I knew there were alot of pants that I wasn't wearing much due to the fact that they weren't fitting perfectly.  I was anticipating getting rid of alot of pants in the process, and instead I ended up with a very large alterations pile.  In the end I fixed 10 pairs of pants all in one day...which makes for a VERY boring sewing day...but the results were worth it.

Here are some of the results:
(Befores on Left, Afters on Right)

What I did: Took in the inner leg from the crotch to the knee, took in the hip.

What I did: Took in from the hip to knee.

What I did:  Let out the cuff.

What I did:  Took in the center back waistband and yoke.
This one took the most amount of work, but I LOVED these pants sooo much because there were the perfect bootcuts which I never wore because anytime I bent over I had to hold onto my pants.  Now they fit PERFECT!

I figured that I would share this because so often people overlook the option of getting clothes altered and end up settling for clothes that don't fit right.  So I say suck it up and get it fixed because the results are worth it!!

Smart move. The results speak for themselves.

I learned from "What Not To Wear" that many people look bad because their clothes are ill-fitting, not because of the items themselves. That caused me to think the same thoughts you're having. Good work spreading the word!

You are impressive Miss! IMPRESSIVE! You will have to do a tutorial on a simple alteration one day. I am afraid to try myself. And also pants always just fit me I haven't any to try. Though I do have some skirts to try...but that SHOULD be easy peasy. Nonetheless I am a big scardy cat and don't want to ruin a good skirt...but I inspire me...I think I will!

I am so impressed. The first one especially, what a difference. I really should get my pants altered. I wish I could sew like you so it wouldn't cost a fortune.

Great post! Thanks so much for sharing. I can sew, but have never attempted alterations. I'm gonna get on it now!
