Fashionable Mama: Jacinta

It's time to introduce you to another fashionable mama, so here is the very sweet and stylish Jacinta of MODELmumma!

Name:

Jacinta
# of Kids and Ages:

Two girls. 2yrs and 8 months.

Blog Name and URL:

A brief description of your blog:
I'm a young Australian woman who needed an outlet to document some of my outfits I put together as a SAHM. I wanted to connect with other mothers by sharing my thoughts on life in my new role. It is my journey as I figure out how to maintain my sense of style, accept my changing body and be a model mumma to my children.

Did you start "fashion blogging" before or after you had kids?:

I started 5 months after my second child was born.

Do you feel that your style changed after you had kids? If yes, how? If no, why not?:

Yes and no. I don't think it has changed, it is just adjusted.
Yes because I have had to modify my pre-baby style to something that I can breastfeed in.
Yes because I have less time to myself so I need to put together outfits quicker.
Yes because when I put something on I now consider things like 'if this was vomited on, grabbed with grubby fingers, pulled at and broke, will I mind?"

No because I would like to think I haven't sacrificed my sense of style completely since my pre-baby days.
No because I still want to look and feel good by dressing up, no matter if I'm just at home.
No because I still buy more quality items over cheap, poorly made things - even if I has less opportunities to shop due to kids.

What do you think is the biggest misconception of being a mother?:

That being a "mother" is all that we are now, all that we ever were before, and all that we'll ever be.

What do you think is the biggest misconception of being a "fashion blogger"?:

I have no idea! I hadn't even considered myself as a "fashion blogger." I'm just a mum who blogs about fashion in my life.

What is something you enjoy doing that is completely unrelated to your children and fashion blogging?:

I enjoy being on my own with some peace, quiet, tea and chocolate of course!

How would you describe your personal style?:

Simple and stylish.

What are some of your favourite current fashion trends?:

I honestly don't follow trends much. I probably only know what is "in" through browsing my favourite clothing stores online. I am very particular about what I buy. It has to flatter my body shape and last a few seasons. If it is on sale, works with my wardrobe and is a current fashion trend then I'm lucky!

And your least favourite?:

Anything that is uncomfortable or ridiculous for me to wear.

What do you think is the key element to balancing “style” with function for mothers?:

Staying true to your style but making minor changes to accommodate motherhood. And knowing that sometimes "comfort" does not have to be at the expense of "style".

Any other random thoughts or interesting things about you that you would like to share?:

I've met some lovely mothers out there through blogging, which I hadn't expected when I began my own blog. Being a SAHM, it is just what I need at times to know that I'm not going through tough days alone! Start connecting with others mothers by commenting or start your own blog and make new friends!

Thank you Jacinta for taking the time to answer my questions!!
