70s on Seven

Day Seven

What:
70's Tailored Jacket- Mom Made as a Teen
Blouse- Winners
Belt- Ardenes
Pants- H&M
Boots- Stevemadden

This jacket has been sitting in my closet for over six years now, unworn.  I love it a lot...but could never figure out how to wear it...another reason is hasn't been worn by me is that the sleeves are slightly too short....Mom why did you make the sleeves too short??  I'm pretty sure the 17 year old you had the same length of arms as I do now!!  My mom dug out this jacket for me when I first headed off to college for Fashion, because one of the projects I was going to make was a tailored jacket, so she was showing me the one she had made, I loved it...it fit perfect (minus the sleeves of course)...and now it's mine...all mine!!  Hopefully this challenge will get me wearing it a little more now!  Next time I'm not pairing it with pants of a similar colour though!!

Whoa, that jacket is gorgeous. Love the leather covered buttons. And I think too-short sleeves must have been the style because so many of my vintage shirts/coats/dresses have the same issue.

Super cute look.

That IS an awesome jacket, even more so that your mom made it! My mom passed down a tweed jacket that she had from the 70s, but it's store bought and not nearly as awesome as yours.

I'm in love with your boots too.

oh what a wonderful story. that's where you get your creative genes from! i think the jacket is very cute and looks like something you could see sold in stores today. and also i love your blouse. those colors are so cool. and that blouse and the jacket are great match.

That is a great jacket. I love how it looks with the sleeves bunched up. I can't believe it is homemade. I look forward to seeing more of it during the challenge.

My first thought when I say your photos was how great the jacket was. Knowing that your Mum made it makes it even more special. I like it paired with the top - unexpected but fun.

i cant believe your mom made that, it's awesome! as for the short sleeves, why dont you try rolling them up a bit to make a cuff?

That's so awesome that your mom made your jacket! It's so classic--if you'd said that you got it today and not six years ago, I would totally have believed you. Love the top!
Now I'm off to call my mom and ask her why she never made me any awesome jackets.
P.S. But "Winners" just sounds so much better than "T.J. Maxx"! =]
