Bag Skirt DIY

A long long time ago I posted instructions for making a very easy basic skirt, and mentioned that I had many ideas for different variations of the here is another one!!  Other variations can be found under the label "basic skirt".

In order to make this paper bag waist skirt follow the instructions for the original basic skirt, one difference is that the length of your fabric will be the length you want your skirt, plus the width of your elastic times 2 +the amount of fabric you want above the waist band times 2 + 1.5cm (5/8").

When you get to step 4 you're going to fold the waist band down the measurement of the width of your elastic + the amount of fabric for about the waist band + 1.5cm.

Measure down from the fold on your waist band the amount that you had wanted above it, and sew completely around the waist band at this measurement keeping parrallel to the fold.

Continue on to step 5, and complete all the steps to finish your skirt.

All Done!

The reason that I made my skirt out of sheer fabric (and didn't line it) is so that I can wear it over some of the skirts I already own...I think it will look really cool over some of my printed skirts!!

This is fantastic, Natasha. Love how easy it is (or at least you make it look easy) and love the fact that it's sheer. Can't wait to see you wear it.

I love the idea of a sheer skirt over a pattern. And I need to make me one of these skirts this weekend!
