Slip Ups

Day Twenty Four

Turtle Neck- Rickis
Necklace- Self Made
Boots- BCBG

Not too many years ago I had no clue how to mix colours...I guess it's more like I chose to play it safe.  I remember having a black and white printed skirt, and I would only wear it with either a black top or a white top, finally one day I got brave and wore it with a coloured top...that was a HUGE step for me (the seventeen year old me that is)!
When I made this skirt my first thought was that I hardly had any tops to wear it with, I had been instantly brought back to my mentality from years ago.
I find it funny that we can evolve in so many ways, and then instantly (for no apparent reason) be brought right back to our old mentality.
Thank goodness I recovered quickly from my slip up!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

I adore that skirt each time you wear it and the necklace is great. It is definitely strange how sometimes we seem to revert back to old thinking. The benefits of getting older is that it is easier to spot and fix.

These colours do work great together! I love to mix patterns and colours! Though I never had a time when I wouldn't mix colours, there was a time when I would only have ONE patterned piece per outfit (shocking for me, I know!). It's really fun to be freed from these personal rules/constraints isn't it?

You look lovely! And gosh are you brave for always getting out there in the inclement weather!

much love: kimberellie (with a baby in her belly)

so true...i was the same way about colors. certain colors only went with certain colors. i have to keep reminding myself to dress outside of the box!

That's so funny, because I remember a similar moment of visceral shock when I, as a high school student, realized that I could wear a colorful blouse with a black and white polka-dotted skirt and felt like a whole new world had opened up. It's strange to me the rules that we decide upon as teenagers that suddenly break open. I think that's where some of us develop our love for fashion...

I know, for example, that one of my teenage rules would have expressly forbade a skirt like the fabulous one you're wearing here. And now I pretty much can't wait till I can try out my refurbished sewing machine one of my very own! So kuddos for breaking the rules and thanks for giving me the impetuous to do some rule-breaking myself.
