Blouse- Self Made
Skirt- Self Made
Lately I've been adding a lot of "self made" items to my closet...I don't know if it's because fashion blogging makes me want items that I can't find in stores nearby (wait? what stores...haha), so I dig into my fabric pile and whip something up....or if it's just because I thought it would be cool to have a wardrobe that consisted of mostly clothes that I made myself.
My friend Brianna and I have often talked about each of our desires to make a new "collection" each season for our wardrobes (much like a mini designer collection), but neither of us has found the time. Instead I randomly make pieces to add to my closet throughout the year (and she pretty much does the same)....but one day I'll get around to making my own (personal) collection!!
The fact that I make so much of my clothes made me wonder if that keeps some people from wanting to read by blog. I don't really know how to explain myself...but I know that people read/look at fashion blogs for different reasons....and some of these people might only be interested in looking at outfits that include items that they can go to the mall and buy. For myself I look at many blogs to be inspired by silhouettes, colour combinations, texture and print mixing....so I'm hoping that it doesn't matter than many of the items I wear can't be bought at the mall, but the overall idea behind my outfits can be used as an inspiration.
Does that make sence???
Plus so many of the items that I do make have been inspired by pieces in malls, magazines or worn by fellow bloggers!
I'm curious to know what you think...does knowing that you won't be able to find the pieces a blogger is wearing in a store a turn off?? (I think this would also apply to clothing out of your price range and thrifted items as well)
