A Hairy Situation

I think it's time for a funny story!

I was getting tired of my hair being yellow, I was washing it every other days with "purple shampoo" to tone out the yellow, but it wasn't working so well.
On a whim I went to the grocery store and picked up some Amonia Free hair dye that lasts 28 shampoos.  I was choosing between two shades, "Medium Blond" and "Dark Blond"...on the box it said, "When you're choosing between 2 shades it's best to go with the lighter shade".  What did I do?  Go for the dark one of course.
I dyed my hair at my in-laws house that night (it was the last day of our vacation).  After rinsing out the dye I blow dried my hair, and to my horror I noticed that I had missed a spot...and another spot...and another spot....A WHOLE LOT OF SPOTS!!  And on top of that the colour was much darker than I had hoped.
I happened to have some "Go Blonder" Spray in my bag (that lightens your hair when used with heat) I started separating small chunks of hair (my attenpt at creating highlight out of the missed spots) and liberally sprayed them with the "Go Blonder", then I blasted them with the hair dryer, and finally finished off with the straightening iron.
When I finally emerged from the bathroom and rejoined my Hubby, mother in-law and father in-law in the living room no one said a word to me about my hair.  They all sat there in silence sneaking glances in my direction.
You know your hair must look horrible when everyone knows you just dyed you hair, but no one wants to comment on it!!!
The next day we headed back home on our 13hr drive, so there wasn't a chance for me to pick anything up to "fix" my mistake.  During our drive I searched "natural ways to remove dye from hair" on my iPhone.  That night when we arrived home I immediately put on a hair mask containing olive oil (google told me to), then I washed my hair with half shampoo, half baking soda (google also told me that one), and finally I conditioned my hair with my "Go Blonder" conditioner (I figured that should help too..haha).

These pictures were taken the next day.

The next day (after these pictures were taken) I washed my hair with anti-dandruff shampoo (google told me to), and now my hair is finally looking half decent.

The morals of the story are:

-Listen to the advice printed on the hair dye box.
-Do not dye your hair at night, because if you mess up no stores are open!
-Make sure you massage/apply the dye thoroughly through all you hair!
-Google and iPhones are amazing
-No one's going to say anything if you're having a bad hair day, but they're certainly thinking it!**

Now I really hope that I don't run into my hair dresser for at least a few weeks....that could be a little embarrassing!!

**Corrine I'm talking about you too...I saw all those sideways glances at BPs the other night!!! hehe
